Success Stories!
We are thrilled to share our sucess stories with you. Thanks to people like you, we are able to bring a happy end to many of these dogs' struggle to find a new home. To see our recently adopted dogs click here
It was ironic that Sissy had gone to Any Dog Rescue, because I had run across information about them on the internet and I was hoping to convince them to help with Sissy if she had not been adopted. I emailed Marta Wolfe from Any Dog Rescue and told her that I had been following Sissy on the internet and asked how she was doing. It turned out that Sissy did not have a foster home; Marta had generously agreed to take her without an available temporary home to save her from euthanasia. As I felt an immediate connection with her upon first seeing her picture online, I volunteered to foster her.

Marta brought her to our house and Sissy met our pugs. It was a little adjustment for everyone:) Within 48 hours the dogs were getting along very well together. Within a week we knew that Sissy was meant to be with us and we adopted her from Any Dog Rescue. She has gained a badly needed 8 lbs, she has been spayed and she started beginner obedience training yesterday. Her full name is now Isabel Cecilia, but she continues to be called Sissy as her nickname. Sissy is a playful and happy-go-lucky puppy. I have attached a picture of her in our backyard and a picture of her sleeping next to one of her "big sisters", Lulu. Again, thank you for responding to my emails about Sissy.
– Sincerely, Jennifer
In Harley leaving to his new home yesterday we cried with happy tears, finally he got a chance. Well in speaking with his owner, Barbara tonight she said they love him. He has walked three times today, and most definitely is her oldest son, Ricky's dog. He slept in the house last night next to Ricky's bed, even though he brought Harley's bed into his room for him to sleep on it, Harley chose not to sleep on it, but on the floor next to Ricky.
They said everyone wants to come over to meet Harley, and of course he loves the attention. Rick, the husband loves him and they all cannot believe how intelligent Harley is. I asked how his behavior was in the house and she said he went to lift his leg yesterday and today and they put him outside and he cried and put his head down, so she feels he knew that was not going to be accepted. She closed the conversation to call anytime and they chose the perfect dog and they are so happy.
So it took some time but sounds like we found the perfect home for him with a family where he will be traveling in an RV that sounds pretty elaborate so my prayers were answered, thank you to my higher up!
Also thank you everyone for your patience and support in placing Harley. Also Marta thanks for remembering Harley when they came in to Petco in Vallejo.
Good job everyone, team work makes a big difference!

Guinness was a dog in which I have been monitoring for three months. I was doing an adoption fair at PFE in Antioch and one of the staff received a call in which they asked me if I would like to talk to this person. The owners were looking for a home for their senior un socialized bully breed girl who was dog aggressive and leery of men. The couple had her since she was a puppy. The wife was expecting their first baby in 5 weeks and the couple had decided to surrender her. Although they loved her and I gave other options to surrendering her by telling them PFE would give a discount on an outside run for the day time and if they could leave garage door open and she could sleep there at night, although personally believe our four legged friends belong in the house with other family members, but she said they had talked about it and had made up their minds. I gave them the truth that with Guinness being older, not social it would be hard to place her and if they brought her to the shelter due to mortgage crisis and the economy the shelters are crowded and most likely she would be euthanized. I asked if they could keep her until I find a foster. I did find a woman who was willing to foster her in which I followed up on and the wife said they were thinking about keeping her on the date the fostering was suppose to begin.
I advised her on reading books on how to introduce the baby to Guinness, told her to bring baby blanket home before she brought baby home so Guinness knew the smell; and also shared with her how my deceased Rottweiler as big as he was wonderful with the grandsons. The wife advised me that she wanted to thank us for guiding us in doing the right thing and keeping Guinness. They cannot believe how wonderful she is with the baby watching over her and how she loves the baby, that it has changed her disposition, maybe she was waiting for her little sister to come to keep her company. What a happy ending.
This shows when talking pays in advising this family on what to do prior to the event, truth of facts of shelters dilemmas, processing other ideas, having fosters, and calling back shows them we care about their animal and let them think about other options. Harrah!

Henrietta was found wandering starving and dirty in front of her rescuers car. She took her in for the night but had two cats and lived in a no-dog apartment so she had no idea what to do. She named the dog Henrietta after Henrietta the cat, who had passed away the day before, loved but old, hoping she would bring luck to her namesake. Henrietta was a back-yard bred blue nose pit bull cross, probably from the wrong part of town, just over a year old. She contacted every organization she could find, but found no alternatives available except for the pinole shelter and it seemed Henrietta would have very little chance of adoption there, so she couldnt bring herself to take her there. The only people that gave her help and support and committed themselves to Henrietta were Any Dog Rescue and Pit Bull Rescue.
She took Henrietta to her vet and found she was in heat so therefore could not be fixed and was confined indoors for over a month. She kept her downstairs away from the cats and in secret from the landlords during that time, and they formed a loving bond. Henrietta was rambunctious, and super strong, but sweet and gentle as pie and loved hugs and kisses. Time passed and finally Any Dog Rescue found a suitable place in a no kill sanctuary for her. After she was fixed, her foster mother drove her up there and tearfully said her goodbyes, leaving the sanctuary with many donations from well wisher friends and high hopes. After checking in on Henrietta obsessively, her foster found out that a few weeks later she had probelms socializing with other dogs. The sanctuary was unable to keep her, but a loving volunteer pleaded with their trainer to take her home and work with her, which he did. Nearly 3 months later her foster checked in to see what the news was, and apparently Henrietta was doing great living with the trainer on his 40 acres, and 2 other dogs. She found herself a home.
Her foster mother, out of grattitude to Any Dog Rescue and Pit Bull Rescue, and commitment to all neglected animals, is now the webmaster.
Patches was recently adopted and here is her testimonial from her family: Just wanted to let you know that Patches has made herself at home with us. I am so thankful that I found her and you she has filled a big hole I my life that I didnt even know that I had. She is doing excellent and is walking ok on a leash the sensation harness is the best thing for her I am attaching a picture of David (my son) and her she just loves it here. Thank you again for all that you do!

I got a call at approx 7:00am about a month ago that a dog had been hit by a car near Louisiana and Broadway St in Vallejo. They said he was unconcious but still alive, so I ran out in my pajama's hoping I would get there in time. I also gave them the number to call Animal Control. When I got there, the lady that found him; Rachel, was there with him, he was lying on the corner as if he'd just barely made it to the sidewalk, this probably saved his life, some how he must have known he had to get out of the street. He was curled up in a little ball, shaking and shivering, obviously in shock. He was such a little guy I honestly didn't think he was going to make it. All I could do was get him a blanket and a pillow and make him comfortable. When Animal Control showed up, they loaded him in the truck and rushed him to "All Creatures" a local vet.
The next day I was surprised to hear that he had a good chance of recovering! He was transported to the county shelter where they continued to provide vet care. I wasn't allowed to visit him but monitored his status for the next month until I got the call on Saturday, 9/27 that I'd been waiting for....he was ready to go home!
Rachel, who first found him after he got hit, came through for him and was his foster home, after he was released. Then her co-worker where they work at a nursing home in Novato saw him and almost immediately felt she had to adopt him! Now, he gets to come to work w/Judy (mom) and Rachel (Aunt) and he visits the residents and curls up on their beds to take naps. This is truly a miracle ending for this guy.

"Beauty" (only 6 months old) is such a joy to be around and her family loves both her and her brother Bruce very much! Unfortunately they live in a townhouse w/no yard and these puppies are growing up fast so they have made the heart-breaking sacrifice to help find them a good home where they will have plenty of room to grow and play as puppies should be able to. She definitely has alot of puppy energy but has a docile temperament, is cat tolerant (she likes to play), excellent w/children, and good w/other dogs (she will make a good dog park dog!). She's mostly quiet, seems non-destructive, loves to play and will smother you in kisses! Good in the car and good off-leash! (She needs a home that will be willing to provide some house-breaking!) more...
"Bruce" is beauty's brother! He is the same age (6 months) from the same litter but is more of a rottx! He has the same docile temperament as his sister, seems more dis-interested in cats, good w/dogs and children, would also make a really good dog park dog! He's just as friendly and playful, they both do well in the car (they lie down in the back seat). Both good off-leash, they don't try to run away. And good news....he's house-broken! I hope to hear from some one who will adore these puppies as we do!

Boscoe is a Border collie / Malamute cross, is nearly 2 years old, and a really good candidate for a family dog! He loves children and they love him. He has the border-collie energy so he keeps up with them but without any herding qualities. He's a great dog park dog and loves to swim (we found out by accident). He's playful but non-destructive, quiet and house-broken. His foster says he got along with all other dogs, both male and female. more...
He does not like cats though. He was originally from a home that had some land but no fencing so he would wander off occassionally, so he will of course will require a secure yard. Also he appears skittish around brushes. He is neutered and current on all his shots. He will make a wonderful addition to the right home!

He loves to chase after his ball or toy that is thrown for him and likes to play keep away. Boy has not been potty trained but he is very trainable. more...
If you are a patient person and want to commit the time and love it takes to train him, he will make a very good family pet. He is very sensitive and intelligent and he responds very well to loving people. He needs a family that will give him a lot of attention and welcome him in as a family member.

Charlie (approx 1 yr / 15 lbs) is a shy guy but is so gentle and docile that you can't help but love him. Quiet (not barky), docile, cuddly, easy to handle but a little skittish around strangers, is becoming house-broken, and ok around other dogs & cats. He needs a consistent nurturing home that will help him overcome his shyness! Is good on leash and loves to go for walks. He's in a very good foster home that is helping him stablize and he will thrive in the right home. |

Dancer is a 1-2 year old rottie doberman mix. He is a love bug who wants to please anyone. He is very good in the house and just wants attention and love. He loves to dance (how he got his name) especially when someone sings "Dancing Machine". He gets along with submissive dogs / not dominant, no cats, needs secure yard, rides wonderful in car, listens to commands, and is crate trained. He is a wonderful dog and would know that within the first few minutes in meeting him. more...
Dancer is not cat tolerant. He is in a foster home right now with many other dogs and is not getting the attention he deserves. Please if anyone can open up your heart and home to dancer. If not adopted we can also use a foster parent.

Fuzzy ears was adopted but given back again due to having too much energy and the kids were not taking care of her. She was returned to her foster parent from Oakley vet, who could no longer board her there, and now is at the Martinez shelter which is very crowded at the moment so we are feeling very worried and upset about her future. Can you help? more...
Fuzzyears is named because her ears are fuzzy, she is vaccinated and spayed, approximately 10 months old. She was found roaming the streets for over a week in Antioch. No one had claimed her from lost reports. She is a mixed pit bull, loves children, car rides, tolerant with cats, and is very lovable dog, house broken. The staff at Oakley vet really like her and want to see her in a good home.

Flossie, a 2 year old Boxer / Rott mix is one of a kind! She weighs about 50#, is unique, and has a mysterious kind of beauty and an intriquing personality. She will keep you on your toes! She's eager to please, good w/people and children (8 or older), and cat tolerant. She can be a bit bossy, but is very responsive to correction and is VERY trainable! more...
She is definitely not the couch potato type but more high energy so the more exercise, the better! She is good on the leash, independent and is ok when left alone but LOVES to be lavished w/attention! Although not the best candidate for the dog park, she does like other dogs. At this point she is best suited to be the only dog in the home. In order to help her get socialized around other dogs, we recommend a comprehensive training program, and we have several very competent trainer's that are offering to work with her!

This puppy is a Kelpie / Chi Hua Hua X, 3 months old, has her DHLPP and Bordetella vaccinations, and will need Spay and Rabies @ 4 months (we will cover costs). Otherwise, we don't know much about this little girl except she's an an adorable cutie pie! She's still a puppy so very playful, loves people, friendly to everyone she meets, she's a cuddle-bug so would make a great lap dog! One dog only home or possibly w/a docile male.

Herman was Found in the middle of Lake Herman Road, abandoned with some kibble. The owners have not been found. He is neutered, microchipped, all shots up to date and on frontline. He has had a full physical and in great health. Herman is about 1.5 to 2 years old, male American Staffordshire Terrier and weighs 80 pounds. more...
He is a beautiful boy. Very kind, playful puppy temperament. Loves (licks) the triplet 15 month old boys he is staying with. He probably gets along with dogs his own size and is good with the pugs he is staying with. He is interested in cats (not sure if he gets along, we think no but who knows, there is no barking or growling). Herman needs to be adopted by an experienced dog person who has the time to socialize him and give him the attention he needs and deserves. He needs some training with jumping, and likes to chew a little when bored (plastic seems to be his favorite) so a lot of toys is a must (kongs).

Jacques, an American pit bull, is a rare-bird who peacefully co-exists w/nature (dogs, cats, bunny rabbits, deer, squirrels, you name it) He's a handsome, spirited, happy, and playful character who weighs about 73 pounds. He is the embodiment of the best of the breed: loyal, sweet, silly, and smart. Fawn-colored, he’s got a beautiful big white chest and a very stylish white line down the middle of his adorable face. more...
A very affectionate fellow, he gives kisses and is very gentle. He is approximately three years old, current on all vaccinations, neutered, housebroken, very quiet, and raring to find paradise in a loving home. He's a very easy soul to live with.
Ideally, he would thrive with an active couple or as a companion to an individual. He is a strong boy but is getting better on leash! After his initial excitement going for walks he will follow your lead and walk at your pace. He’s being fostered now and has behaved like the charming, good-natured soul he is. He loves not only people, but dogs, cats, bunny rabbits (he has several bunnies as room-mates!) he doesn't even try to chase wild-life: deer, birds, squirrels are all safe when he's around! Is this possible? To top it off he's extremely well-behaved in the car.
He has quite a fan club & we are determined to see him through this transitions safely!.

King found us on Friday, July 25, 2008 near American Canyon. He decided our front gate was the perfect place for a nap and eventually moved in. He kept watch over us, as we worked on our car, or in the yard all day. He could barely walk when he first came to us. After a couple days of good food and grooming, he metamorphosed into a very handsome dog. We are guessing he may be a Collie/Shepherd X, approx 7 - 8 yrs old but seems no older than 5-6, still quite strong and active. He had a complete exam (including heart worm test and a complimentary teeth cleaning), fortunately no medical problems. more...
His most FAVORITE thing in the world is to go for walks. He gets very excited when he see's the leash and is ready to go. But you must keep an eye on him because he's a "door darter" and he'll slip out the front door (or car door) if no one's looking. It appears he's never had leash training and can get leash reactive around other dogs. However, he appears to do ok @ the dog park as long as he's OFF leash.
The one word that comes to mind when you meet King is "gentleman". He is not overtly trained, but has very natural good manners. He's house-broken, quiet, and has done well w/all the dogs in our home (he and Hobo, another shepherd male, will have wrestling matches and frolic). Is GREAT around cats, and loves to play with kids of all ages.
He's a picky eater and would rather visit than eat.even on that first day, when he was very hungry. He is a good guard dog, he's alert and barks appropriately, but not excessively. Loves to ride in the car. Loves attention, but is very patient. Will roll-over to scratch his back on the rug and for tummy rubs. We would love to see him reunited with his family, or find a new family. He is a great dog and has developed quite a fan club.

Kiara Karamel is a beautiful brown and white 10# Rat Terrier, with wise amber eyes who was dumped on a highway, newly pregnant. She has since given birth to two black and White Rat Terrier boys on 7/4/07; Luca and Cupid. Her boys are also needing a home together. Kiara is outgoing, incredibly intelligent, and loves people and other dogs. Her coloring, giant elfin ears, and her eyes are simply stunning! She can be a wise observer or a fiery little rabble-rouser, but she is always just plain fun.

Koko was given the name 'Komodo' by her foster mom because she walked like a Komodo dragon! Fortunately, her foster dad won out and named her Koko due to how sweet she is. We think Koko is part Basset Hound, Dachshund, Pit-bull or maybe dragon. more...
Koko is low to the ground, stands by your side for walks, and is potty trained. She loves to have her belly rubbed and loves to meet people. She is sweet with dogs and she would be perfect for someones lap or even as a footwarmer! She really needs a family of her own.

This little girl is 7-9 months old, very sweet and has beautiful blue eyes. Her rescuer found her while assisting a friend who renovates foreclosed properties, left without food or water in the backyard for over a week. Unfortunately he is in the process of looking for a new home and staying with friends so he cannot keep her. more...
Her foster says the neighbors think her name is Payton. He fell in love with her and has paid for her veterinary care and has nursed her back to health. She was very dehydrated and had a number of infections. He desperately wants this girl adopted into a loving family with a yard; one that will not abandon her. Can you help?

Sweet Pedal ia a quiet dog, unlike most chihuahuas. She barks only when there's a visitor. She likes to play with people, loves attention, and likes to sit on your lap. She doesn't really like bigger dogs but she does fine with her friend Peanut (pic 3). She's good with children and good on leash, but she needs some housebreaking training.

Pearl is a "poil" of a girl! She's a 10 month old female chihuahua mix. She needs love and patience as she hasn't had it so good so far in her young life. She and Whiskey were rescued from a farm that appears to have been a puppy mill out in Fresno. This must have been traumatizing and they don't trust the world right now. However she is recovering beautifully. In spite of it all, she still manages to be very sweet and affectionate, she's a snuggle-bug and loves affection but is on the shy side and seems intimidated by male humans. more...
She's quiet, house-broken, non-destructive, docile and very well behaved. She just needs some TLC and someone truly devoted to dogs who will help her over come her fears. Is that you?

email us about pippin
Pippin is being placed up for adoption by his home, here's the story:
He was rescued from the Long Beach Animal Shelter last June by the rescue group that I worked with before moving to the Bay Area. He's approximately 18 mos. old, 15 lbs, neutered, and up to date with vaccinations. He understands basic obedience training (sit, stay, down, roll-over) is good with kids (though he gets very excited and can jump on them) and confident, dog-friendly and loves cats (as you can see in the pictures). He would do great with another dog, as he gets separation anxiety if left alone without his human or dog pack. He has an 'exuberant personality', loves to chase squeaky, soft balls and is not bad on the leash.
His 'challenges' are his high energy, insecure and a bit nervous personality. He can react defensively towards big, bulky people by growling - it's a nervous, fearful behavior vs. aggressive/dominant behavior. He would do well in a home with children and another dog or with a experienced dog owner that can provide him with alot of exercise (e.g., agility training, running, cycling, herding) and attention. He does have a fairly strong prey drive and will chase anything that runs (dogs, cats, squirrels, birds, etc.). He does exhibit some resource guarding towards squeaky toys and treats, but only with other dogs. He's never exhibited aggressive, territorial or biting behavior towards me. He loves people, but he needs to understand about boundaries (e.g., jumping on people). He is a sweet, loving dog that needs a forever home that can provide him with alot of fun time exercise, discipline and security.
PIPPIN is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.

Red is a 12 year old part corgie part shepherd dog. She has been an amazing companion to her family. They have had her for 11 years. Unfortunately, due to moving in with another family they can no longer keep her. It breaks their hearts, she needs a home quickly. She has been raised with two boys and is a protective dog. She has never been around cats. She has had other companions and does well with other dogs, after the initial getting to know them time. She is quite loving, gentle, loyal and loves attention and walks.

Hi....my name is Rickey! I came from Corning, CA when I was a puppy. I love going for walks but am pretty strong, even though I'm short, so will need some leash training. I am dog friendly so that means I can go to the dog park. I also love people. I'm a couch potato too so I don't need alot of exercise. more...
I love to hang around w/my people friends. Also, I am a quiet dog and completely house-broken! I am sad because my mom had to move to a retirement home and they think I am too big so I can't stay here very much longer! But it would make me very happy if I can find a good home that will still love me!
Rickey is 4 yrs old, is a neutured male, current on shots and weighs 50-60-lbs.

There is something about Sampson that attracts people to him wherever he goes....We think that it is more than his good looks...He has such an affable and sweet and easygoing temperament that draws people in and seems genuinely happy with everyone he meets. Sampson is a Dutch Shepherd mix (possibly w/hound or lab?) neutered male, weighing 70 pounds. He's 1 1/2 - 2 years old, dog Friendly, tolerant of cats and excellent w/children. more...
Sampson was rescued from a high-kill shelter where had been Pet of the Week but alas space for him ran out quickly. We feel he will make a great family dog and feel lucky to have rescued him. He is very, very smart and responsive to training. He can be strong on leash initially but settles down quite nicely and will eventually walk with a slack leash. He is also quite gentle and soft with his mouth and has shown no food possession. Sampson tested quite well with other dogs. He still needs to be formally tested with cats but so far has not shown any kind of prey drive (and has been good with the cat at the vet office). Sampson is quite simply a hidden gem..waiting to brighten someone's life! Please note: The Dutch Shepherds are starting to replace the traditional German Shepherds as police dogs because they are sturdier and healthier w/less genetic problems!

This is Susie Q. We just call her Susie, unless she is naughty and we have to get her attention. Then we use her full name. She is a 1 year old Rottweiler mix. If she were a full bred Rottweiler, she would be very small for the breed. Susie should not grow any larger than she is now. She has had all her shots, has been spayed and chipped, is house trained, crate (kennel) trained, and she travels in a vehicle quite well. more...
She loves to play with her foster friends and dogs, is very good (although at times too curious) with cats. She seems to have boundless energy. She loves kids, is a little shy with strangers but warms up quickly. She has been trained to walk on a leash, sit, stay (wait), and lie down. Her bark is just like a full grown Rottweiler’s. So, when people hear her, they think that she is a much larger dog. When you meet her you will fall in love with her.

When Venus was found she was very skinny but with some TLC she has grown to be dignified and quite "statuesque. A found dog report was filed w/the local shelter but no one came forward. So her foster mom has had her for 4 months, loves her and says with proper training she will be a wonderful dog, it is just no one ever gave her the chance or apparently cared. Our best guess-timate is she's Boxer X (approx 3 yrs old and about 35lb). Housebroken, quiet, and gets along with her foster mom's dog, but seems a little nervous around men so has attended some training lessons. A dog this beautiful deserves a second chance.

Tiny is 1 1/2 years old, neutered pit bull mix, up to date on shots and weighs about 70 pounds. He has a very nice temperament, has never met a person he doesn't LOVE, enthusiastic, eager to please, and loves to be with people. He is excited to meet you, but calms down quickly and is not a hyper dog. He can be 'reactive' to some new dogs, but, this sweet pooch is gentle with the male (alpha) cocker spaniel also in the home, and really likes the dogs he knows in his neighborhood. more...
During walks on familiar ground, if allowed, Tiny will approach local dog friends in a relaxed and happy manner - kissing them on the face, so he's good when introduced slowly. He's lovely with children and likes to play but doesn't know his size and can be jumpy, so only older children, please! Tiny is quiet and loves to go for walks, but is a strong, young dog, so we're going to require that his new family participate in training. The cost of training will be Tiny's adoption fee. Our group will be happy to recommend appropriate trainers for Tiny's new family.
TINY'S STORY: Tiny has been with the same family since he was adopted from a breeder as at 6 weeks old. To make a long (typical) story short, Tiny was purchased and then left with a young man's parents, who don't feel they can handle him properly! His family has cared for him well, but has been unable to give a young pit bull what he needs: exercise, structure and training. The family has asked for help from rescue to help in finding Tiny a caring home who appreciates pit bulls, and will see him for the loyal, loving, goofy and playful dog that he is! And really, who could resist those cute ears?!

Whiskey (11 month old terr / chihuahua) was rescued from the same puppy farm in Fresno that Pearl was. So he's also traumatized and unsure of his place in the world but it hasn't stopped him from being sweet and affectionate. Also still on the shy side and not comfortable around strange males he will need a patient and nurturing home to help him overcome his fears, but when he does he will be extremely loyal. more...
He's quiet, non-destructive, housebroken and is not at all nippy, but will need some leash training as I'm sure on puppy farms no one takes them out for a nice walk. It will take some time to adjust to a new home but what a wonderful opportunity to help this little guy. Will you be the one to provide some TLC?

Meet Wilbur, a little green-eyed pit bull beauty, between three and four months old, 25 pounds, appearing to be a cross between a calf and a piglet, with a white head so pink and soft that you can't resist cuddling with him every minute of the day. He even has a little squeal; the body is a beautiful coffee brown and white. He is just ridiculously cute and possesses all of the breed's best traits: affectionate, clownish, energetic, smart as a whip, crazy to please, just all-around delightful and cheerful. Abandoned and dirty, he was taken in by someone who already has two of her own dashing pit bulls and wants to find this sweet boy the perfect home he so richly deserves. more...
He didn't come house-trained but is learning quickly and is now actually standing at the back door asking to go out. He has had his shots and is in robust health. Neutering takes place at six months. These photos only hint at his full measure of adorableness. He is irresistible and needs a great home to grow into the best dog possible. As we all know, in the wrong hands, beautiful and sweet puppies are turned into something else entirely. Wilbur is currently interviewing suitable candidates to become his new family. And of course all puppies need training! Are you willing to give him a chance at pure happiness? He promises to reward you with a lifetime of ardentloyalty. He will need training.

Zeus is quite mature for being a young puppy...he's such a polite and gentle soul, the epitome of docile, they must have invented the word for him! He sits quietly and watches the world around him but will bark a few hello's when he see's another dog. He's bi-lingual, knows sit and is learning to lie down and stay. He's doing very well with the other dog in the home (a chi hua hua) and loves children (does well with kids as young as 1 yr old and older). He's already house-broken and is becoming crate-trained. He's both and inside / outside but sleeps inside @ night! I could go on but I think his pictures are worth a 1000 words.

Cici was rescued from the SPCA and has been evaluated by one of our trainers where she passed every test: handling, loud noises, meeting strangers, already knows sit, lie down, and gives you her paw. She's good w/other dogs, she's peacefully co-existing w/a shepx and a rottx among others but smaller companions would be more in her comfort zone. However she definitely failed the cat test. She's docile so should be fine w/children but older probably better. She's housebroken up to a point, she lets you know when she has to go out but if she can't get out in time she can have accidents (a pet door would be ideal). more...
Her most favorite thing in the whole world is to go for walks, she's often sitting by the door anxiously awaiting, but hold onto her tightly as she's fast and strong for a little thing (leash traininhg is a MUST). Conversely when she's in the car she just wants to sit in your lap. Very treat motivated so crate training is going well, just throw in a few goodies. Likes toys (especially loves to play ball).
She's somewhere in between being mellow and high strung so she will keep her next family on their toes. They will have to keep an eye on her as she's a bit of an escape artist which is probably how she got lost in the 1st place. So secure fencing is a must. I think she can make a good dog park dog but only if it's completely enclosed.

Clay is a good name for this dog, purebred 5 yr old choc lab, 80 lbs! He's a "couch potatoe" kind of guy. Just wants an old comfy couch to sleep on, and a nice warm fire to lay next to. A couple of "square" doggie meals a day and a nice human for companionship and he'd be content for the rest of his life. We don't think that's asking for too much, do you? So far after only meeting him once this is what we know: more...
- He loves people but is well behaved, not jumpy
- Loves to be a lap dog and roll-over for tummy rubs
- Clay is quiet but will bark @ other dogs if strangers
- Really loves treats and is gentle, not grabby
- Does very well on leash, doesn't pull
- He used to live w/2 other dogs so may be able to adapt to a home w/other dogs
- Not tested around cats yet!
- Quite excellent w/children
His current human moved into a new home and found out too late that the landlord does not allow pets. They signed a 1 year lease so can't get out of it, they feel they have no choice but to help him find another home, though very reluctantly. |

Daisy, a delicate, white and pink 38-pound pitpull/boxer/mystery mix, has long legs, a delightful spring in her step (like a dancer), and a curly tail. About a year and nine months but very puppyish (everyone who meets her assumes she is still a puppy), she loves to be tucked in at night with a blankie (beach towel) wrapped around her, so she can bury her head. She also is very comfy atop an old jacket. She relishes being sung to, her favorite looney-tune is “Bicycle Built for Two.” She loves to hide her head between your arms or legs when being petted. You can roll her over for belly rubs. more...
Still needs formal obedience training but is so smart that she already has learned so many new things. Will respond to “Accckk” or “Chhhh” and will stop whatever she is doing. Dreams a lot when asleep. Cocks her head to one side when you speak to her or if noises she doesn’t yet know. When excited, she spins circles, and also loves to run. When happy, her entire body wags.
Daisy is up to date on vaccinations, is spayed & microchipped but needs to be registered, and requires a heartworm test. She loves the company of dogs, wants to play with all the four-legged ones who come her way, and seems okay around cats. She loves the beach and exploring new places. Caution: because she is white, she will require sun block when out in the sun (the most important ingredient is zinc oxide and should be purchased at a natural food store, so there is the least amount of additives and no fragrance: Whole Foods carries such products.)
Daisy would make someone the best and most loving companion. She was in a high-kill shelter but, because the staff adored her so much, they did everything possible to get her out. She is irresistible, and you will fall honeymoon-in-love with her.

Pinky (3 1/2 - month old pit puppy) can't help being so cute and is sure to brighten even the gloomiest of days with her happy- go-lucky attitude as she runs along happily down the street (on a leash of course) greeting everyone she meets. She came w/a little pink collar that's how she got her name. What we know so far: more...
She loves people and turns to watch you, to make sure she's doing what she's suppose to. She makes very good eye contact, this is a good sign that she will be very trainable. Also loves children, is very gentle. Also, quiet as a little mouse.
She is good w/other dogs, loves to play & play, but watch that it doesn't get too much. Is very easy to handle, not too strong, she knows sit and is learning lie down, but no, @ this point she is not house-broken, but we are working on it.. She is becoming crate-trained.. .(there is a website called: housebreakingmypuppy.com it can take about 1 week))
The previous family was struggling financially, and the word on the street was they were about to trade her for furniture. We couldn't let this happen so we offered to buy her. Not how we usually operate but we are very glad we did. Now, we will ensure that she gets the best possible home. If you think you are that home, please don't hesitate to contact us.
While being boarded at a dog kennel in Brentwood from 2/08 - 5/08 you would find the two of them being foster parents to rescues who were two male pugs. Pinky were raised with little dogs and are very gentle and protective. Chopper has a look that says please love me and Roxy tries to hog all the attention, she is pushy! Both of them love to ride in the car, so they would be up for some ROAD TRIPS!
Chopper, red nose/brindle, w/captivating eyes, had been mistreated as a puppy! His owner rescued him at 6 months. He is cautious with men at first; but once he gets to know you he is a character. He loves little dogs and was a wonderful father to Roxy's puppies.
Roxy, is a blue nose, dark brown and white, weight (we won't talk about, she loves to eat) is a lover and just wants to please. She is a "water" dog who loves to swim and play in the river where Chopper runs for dear life (he almost drowned in his puppy years). Roxy is very out going where as Chopper is more mellow. The kennel workers were cautious of them until they got to know them and still ask how they are as they captured all the visitors hearts.

RIVER is a "pretty boy" with a docile and gentle soul! He's a collie / sheltie type X (4 1/2 yrs). Sheltie's are mini-Lassie's. He's a nice manageable size, approx 50 lbs, totally sweet, friendly and completely affectionate, quiet, a little shy in the beginning, but nicely playful, well-mannered, submissive, he's not pushy or demanding, and he totally comes out of his shell. He's easier to handle than most and low maintenance, does fine all day while people are at work. more...
He knows sit and lie down, is not destructive or food aggressive (even around rawhide), does well w/crate training, is becoming house-broken. His strongest suit is he is EXCELLENT w/other dogs, both males & females. Could definitely be a dog park dog as long as it's completely enclosed. He does pretty darn well in the car but prefers to curl up on the floor in the backseat, he's so quiet you almost forget he's there.
Loves to give you "bear-hugs" to show how happy he is when you first get home. And loves to romp around with the other dogs. Will make an excellent companion for humans and pets. However he gets a little quirky and clumsy on a leash but should not be let off leash in case he bolts. All he needs is some "positive" coaching & leash-work, he will require a patient & tolerant home that will give him the space to let him be who he is: A beautiful dog w/a couple of quirks.

Hi! My name is Sarah or Sarah LeeAnn when I am in trouble. I am good natured and gentle. I'm a 2 yr old female Pit-bull mix, up-to-date on all my shots, and I am told that I have been fixed (I did not know I was broken). My colors are a golden red with beautiful white socks and some white on my gorgeous chest. My hair is short and soft, like brown velvet! I will tell you what my bad habits are first: I like to run and play too much and I totally believe I should be a lap dog like my foster-parents Chihuahua/Rat Terrier :) more...
My good points are I am good most of the time. I am in a foster home right now with 4 other dogs and 2 kittens. My foster mom is a certified dog trainer. We all get along really well and during the week mom's grand-kids come over. Sundays are the best because everyone brings their dogs over and we all play and have a great time. I am good with the grandchildren and their dogs, and one of my best friends is a cat! I love to chew on toys and bones, I like to play catch and keep away, I enjoy going out on walks too. I am potty trained and kennel trained, a "good sport" in the car & love going for road-trips! I am low maintenance, I even trim my own nails so you will never have to do that.
I need a really supportive family that wants to be loved by me and will love me back. Approach me slowly, please don’t rush me as I need time to check you out first to see if you are the right family for me. P.S. My advice is to bring some treats with you when you come! Soft ones are my favorite and I also love balls, I can never have enough balls.

"Bo" (7 month old / 10 lbs) is a special chi hua hua that is quiet not yappy, gentle w/children not nippy, docile not high strung, good w/other dogs both large and small, ok around cats, and the list could go on. He's sweet, friendly, well-mannered, knows sit and lie down, and is good on leash. He deserves the kind of home that will appreciate his good nature and will give the love to him that he gives to the world. Plus he's adorable.

Rocco is a loving and affectionate 8 month old American Staffordshire Terrier. Just look at his loving face. We just love his goofy expressions and floppy ears. He is wonderful with my small children ages 2 & 5. He is command trained (and even listens to commands from both of my kids.) and knows how to sit, stay and lay down. He is also leash trained and wears a collar or a harness. He is off the leash trained in our open yard and somewhat at the beach. He is socialized with other dogs but tends to play too rough with small dogs due to his size. Though his best buddy is a Pug. He loves to play and I know he would love a house that had another dog in it.
He is quite a character, and even sleeps in silly positions. He loves his dog bed but beware of a blanket on the floor cause he will lay on it!! He loves all bones and toys, put simply, he just loves to play. He is kennel trained and will sleep in the kennel at night but prefers to be out of course. He is up to date on all shots and has been neutered. He is a wonderful and silly dog. He enjoys playing fetch and will return the toy to you to throw again. He adores the beach but doesn't usually enter the water. He is great with baths and enjoys a good romp with a spraying hose. He is also a wonderful watch dog. If the screen door is open that's were he sits, to be ever watchful over our family. Rocco will be the perfect addition to your family.
The only issue we have with Rocco is his separation anxiety and fear of my husband. We adopted Rocco from another family about 3 months ago and have been trying so hard to kindle a loving relationship between him and my husband but with no success. We don't know his whole story but he's skittish around males. So we have decided to move him to a new home. We just don't think it is fair to keep him in a house where he feels threatened. So a home w/a single mom and children w/ another dog might be ideal.

Sydney: chow-kelpie mix; spayed female; 35 pounds ; 1 1/2 years old. Don't let this girl's initial reserved demeanor fool you. Give her just a little time and she will charm you with her sweet and gentle affection and show you what a unique personality she has. Sydney really has alot going for her. Her chow side makes her a well-mannered and fastidious house "guest" She is neat, housebroken and does not chew. She is also completely crate-trained. more...
She is the kind that is good w/both dogs & cats. Outside, Sydney shows the herding side of herself....she loves to run and chase other dogs; she is quite nimble and agile; loves to play with toys and to bound through the yard with speed and joy. She enjoys hiking and is also good off-leash and easy to walk on leash. And is a good candidate for the dog park. Sydney is quite intelligent and alert but also has a sensitive side....does better with positive praise than any kind of strong correction. She is a quick learner and we think will respond really well to formal training. Please consider making this great dog a part of your family. |

Lucky is a very sweet puppy. He's only about 4 months old. He has a super great disposition. He gets along with other animals such as cats, other dogs, a pot belly pig and a goat. He is harness trained, but will require puppy training and he gets a little grouchy if another dog tries to take his food (he will chase them away ) but this is normal for a dog whose been stray and doesn't know where his next meal is coming from. It is trainable. more...
He does very well in the house. Most of the time he sits on the couch with us. He's quiet & he is not destructive with our things. He only chews on bully sticks. He is in the process of potty training. He potties on a pee pad. He sleeps in the laundry room with one other pup. When we go out he has his buddy Marshall and toys. He loves chasing balls and sometimes even brings it back to you. He is a happy and very playful puppy. Fortunately he's is in a very good foster home and we are learning more about him every day. |

Cody needs help urgently due to his needed medicine costing over $140 a month. His trainer/foster (recently had brain surgery and is struggling financially) will have to euthanize him due to not having the funds to care for his needs. Cody needs his medicine by 2/18/09. He is a very sweet dog and because of his special needs he may lose his life unless someone can sponsor him or adopt him. more...
If you have any idea for him getting his medicine or know someone who will sponsor him, please contact us ASAP.
My name is Cody and I am a 3 year old, Male, neutered English Pointer. I am GRRREAAT in the house! I have been in my foster home for over 4 months now, and have fully proven I can be completely trusted loose inside; day or night, alone or with company! I don’t chew anything I shouldn't, and I respect the furniture, too, only getting on it when invited.
All I need are my own toys, and I am perfectly happy, though playing with my people is definitely a priority! I guess I'm not perfect, though…I do cry for the first few minutes when left alone, and HATE being left alone outside…I was pretty spoiled by my first family and still have to learn some self-confidence.
Going for walks and rides in the car are the highlights of my life, and my foster mom takes me with her to a doggy-daycare she works at, where I love to meet and play with all the dogs of all sizes and personalities…It doesn't matter to me if the other dogs are dominant, pushy or really submissive, I love them all! I even love the cats and the pet sheep, too!!
My biggest problem is not my fault, though…I do have health issues that, while not expensive to treat, do require regular care. To better know about my disease, and if I could make your life better, check out the link at: www.addisondogs.com/addisons/whatis.html I hope this small part of me doesn't turn you away, cuz I am a GREAT dog and really do deserve a home, and people, all my own!! I would make you smile everyday!!

These dogs need a foster URGENTLY
Unfortunately their owner is terminally ill and has no choice but to surrender these precious dolls to Any Dog Rescue at the end of the month. They have been loved very much and this will probably crush their owner's heart as you can tell they know they are loved. more...

email us about Taki
Taki (her name is Polish for "Nice") is a six month old winsome pit bull going on 35 pounds. She is mostly brindle with a broad white collar and bib. She is very energetic, a spontaneous player and loves hugs and gentle wrestling. When she wants to rest she loves a warm lap or a sunny spot on the porch. Although she much prefers to snuggle on her foster human's bed Taki sleeps in a crate at night and is on her way to good crate behavior. more...
Taki came to us at four months of age. She was out on the streets apparently abandoned. She was healthy except for a mild case of demodectic mange that cleared up with medication. She is now fully coated. Taki is very sociable with people and dogs of all sizes. She is quiet in the house but sometimes barks, in a nice sort of way, to get attention. She is now a regular dog park junkie, she greets and plays well with other dogs. She gets many compliments for being "cute." She has yet to meet a cat, her one time sighting of a squirrel did not spur a chase. She may be able to get along with a dog friendly cat, even though pit pulls are notorious for being chasers.
Taki is a tuffy, plays long and hard, always ready to chase a ball or "attack" a toy – she runs and jumps carrying her stuffed animal toys. She has learned to sit nicely and lie down for treats. She also likes to call your bluff and refuses to sit when she knows you don't have a treat. She's smart and sensitive, a good class in manners training will make her a wonderful house dog and companion.
She can be trusted anywhere in the house, is house-broken, and goes enthusiastically out in the back yard. While waiting for adoption Taki is being fostered with a 14 year old female pit bull mix and 7 year old male chocolate labby. The female taught her to respect her elders and the male tolerated her rambunctious antics. Taki is showing signs when on leash that she will become a good leash walker as she matures but she is still too young to overcome her excitement when going for an outing. Her new human companion will be kept busy with Taki, but it will be the work of love!

email us about Morgan
Morgan (approx 5 yr old boxer/hound X: 75 lbs) Her strongest suit is she's an excellent family dog, raised with small children and a small Shitzu! She is as sweet as can be, affectionate, polite, unassuming, low key, quiet (rarely barks), non-destructive, not demanding of attention BUT will be a huge lap dog if you let her.
Very independent (she would be good for a family that works), she's used to being "on her own" without getting whiny or separation anxiety! She does quite well in the house and is now house-broken even though she's been outside most of her life! more...
She is excellent w/children and lets kids crawl all over her without batting an eye! She's also good with small dogs & puppies but not so good w/other large adult dogs! She warms up eventually as long as she is allowed to be the the dominant one, and has learned to be around other dogs as long as you keep her in the leave it mode and they don't come up on her suddenly. Adjusts to other cats in the house once they stop running away.
She's athletic, the "quiet, outdoorsy type", loves to get her exercise, to run and play ball (well, she can't be counted on to bring it back!) Her "favoritest" thing in the world is going out for walks but because she's lived most of her life in a kennel there's a couple impediments 1) She doesn't know her own strength and she pulls as if she were a pitbull 2) She doesn't do so well around other dogs "on the street" and will get reactive which scares people @ dogs away. Soooo, obedience classes and leash training are a "must". Our trainers have worked w/her and says she is quite responsive so we would like to see her finally get the "socialization" she's been deprived of most of her life!
Her story: Her owner rescued her from a bad home but unfortunately ended up in a wheel-chair thus Morgan landed in an outdoor 6 X 10 ft kennel where she has spent most of her adult life! She is quite strong so he couldn't physically take her out anymore so she was confined almost 24 x 7. The only time she got out was when her neigbors came over for play time, a walk now and then, and a few treats! Not the best quality of life for an active hunting breed but nor did the family want to see her surrendered to a shelter. Thank heavens the neighbor had the sense to call us. Questions are welcomed!

email us about Nina
A small dog we are calling "Nina" has showed up on one of our neighbors doorsteps. We are attempting to find her home but in the meantime she's in a short-term foster home with a family.
That's how we know she is so good with children! They would love to keep her but aren't allowed to have dogs. Nina is about 5 months old, 30 lbs. She is well-behaved, house-broken and
loves to play with toys.
Nina is a bit timid when she meets new people but she warms up quickly. She also appears to be under socialized with other dogs. We think she just needs someone to
introduce her slowly so she can appreciate the joys of playing with other dogs. Like all young dogs she will need a guardian who provides training
and affection so she can grow up to be a good canine citizen. Nina deserves that chance!

email us about Malie
Meet Malie, a small-sized, reddish-brown and white pit bull beauty, a year old (an April pup, 2008), approximately 32 lbs. She is spayed and vaccinated. She possesses all of the breed's best traits: affectionate, loving, funny, silly, energetic, smart as a whip, crazy to please, just all-around delightful and cheerful. Loves swimming! Sleeps in the bed. No food aggression. No toy possession aggression. Loves chewies, toys, and bones. Plays tag. Walks on a harness nicely. Bathes easily. Rides in cars. Plays with children and adults beautifully. Barks when strangers come on property. . more...
Does not dig. Eats well, lovely appetite. Sits when asked. Comes when called. If given the opportunity, like many a dog, will chase small animals, but has not caught one yet. Will play enthusiastically with older dogs with whom she lives now. DOES require training to harness some of that abundant energy and arousal level. She will nip at muzzles of her playmates when too excited. Introduce a strange dog to Malie slowly and carefully. She might be reactive and present an overly zealous introductory greeting to an unfamiliar dog. In short, because of her desire to please, she would do fantastically in training.
She adores people, very squirmy and licky, tail-wagging-happy—the usual pit bull love of life. Three months ago, Malie ate a small amount of Gorilla Glue (see pictures), which caused a mass in her stomach. It’s fatal if not removed. She is completely recovered now after major abdominal surgery. Teen-agers, "Friends of Malie," rallied on Facebook, and collected and raised money for her rescue and surgery.

The past months have been quite the rollercoaster ride for Trey. First, she was picked
up by animal control with a gaping wound down to the bone and her leg required amputation.
Then her owner showed up at the shelter initially appearing excited to have found her. However,
her owner disappeared and the shelter has been unable to establish further contact.
Now abandoned twice, Trey is still homeless at the shelter. Trey is described as social,
silly and ready to go anywhere with anyone. She loves to walk and is very interested in the
staff. This dog acts like she knows they saved her. Trey is approximately 9 months old
and 35 pounds. She has been spayed and is ready to start her new life. She functions well
with only three legs and is quite amazing! Trey wants to be part of a family.

I'm handsome "Hansel" (9 month old Dalmation / Pitpull )I recently lost my home in Benicia when my beloved family moved from a house into an apt. Fortunately I am a really good boy so I have found a safe foster home w/Any Dog Rescue. I'm super friendly, well-behaved and obedient, easy to take care of because I'm quiet (I only bark when there are strangers around). I'm house-broken and crate-trained. more...
While I'm almost perfect I do still have puppy energy and need to work on jumping up on people, it's just because I'm happy and excited to see them. I love playing w/all the dogs @ my foster mom's house, and they love playing w/me. I'm ok around cats too. I was raised w/children so I have proven that I'm a good family dog. And an excellent dog park candidate. I'm very adaptable and will easily adjust to a new family as I love people. I'm an all around good guy looking for an all around good home.

Squeakers was given the name “Squeakers” because when we heard him bark for the first time, he sounded like a little squeaking toy. He is a little over 7 months old and weighs about 9 pounds with all of his shots up to date. He needs a home right away because his family is leaving on Friday, 3/20/09! Please read on to see what his family says about him! He is a mystery mix, maybe part Terrier / Chihuahua , but people beg to differ because of his long legs. more...
He is black with a white chest and has a diamond shaped white spot on his forehead. He has stayed indoors and is partially potty trained. Squeakers is truly a lap dog. He loves to be snuggled and carried like a baby. He is loving, yet protective. He is quiet until strangers approach the door. He likes to play a lot and gets excited when you open the door when you come home. He can be a little high strung when he has been by himself for a while.
When it comes to treats, he will listen to your command. You tell him down and he will sit. I attempted to crate train him, but I think I failed... He can do walks on a leash but still needs to get a little more proficient He does well in the car, stays calm and will simply try to sit in your lap! Squeakers loves to play with toys, he especially likes all the ones that squeak! (maybe THAT's where he got his name)? He hasn’t interacted much with other dogs or cats but would probably be fine (we will evaluate a little furthur)! He's very eager around children because he loves to play so much! He is a VERY adoptable liitle guy, sweet and adorable, & deserves the kind of home that will win his un-dying affection and loyalty.

Portland (4 yr old chowx) is a beautiful girl, I think she could win a beauty pageant. Too beautiful to be stuck out in a backyard where she has spent almost her entire life. We find this unacceptable so have made it our mission to find her another home where she will be un-conditionally loved. She's the nicest size, not too big, not too small, very sweet, quiet, well-behaved, not destructive, not demanding, appears good on leash. more...
She is very obedient, sits patiently waiting for you to come over and say hello but she also has a very playful side so she will not be boring. Her only drawback is she's not always docile around other dogs, she wants to be the 'Queen Bee' so probably better for everyone if she be the only 'bee' in the home.

email us about Sienna
Sienna is an AKC limited registration spayed American Staffordshire Terrier. She is almost 10 months old
and has been in obedience training with PetSmart since she was three months. She just passed her Advanced Training!
Siena is sweet, kind, and very, very exuberant. She needs much more exercise than I can offer.
I also have two small dogs and a cat that absolutely hate her. She's vivacious and playful and my other dogs are old and sedentary.
She would be great in agility with her energy and willingness to please. She loves children and would be great in an active family with older children.
She is possessive of her toys yet she plays very well with others. She gets along very well with large dogs but no small dogs
or cats. I feed her separately. She has always been fed in her crate so needs more testing to see how she does around food... I can no longer keep her.
I just had shoulder surgery yesterday and will be in recovery for three months. I don't know what to do. She will come with a crate and her own toys.
Please help me place her in a good home. Call Denise at 408-964-0734.

email us about Tye
Meet Tye, a very handsome pit bull, approximately a year and a half, although still very puppyish, 60 pounds of
sugar, and irresistibly spirited, playful and affectionate. He is the embodiment of the best of the breed:
loving, loyal, sweet, silly, smart as a whip, goofy, energetic, crazy to please, terribly friendly,
and just all-around delightful and cheerful. He's an athletic, out-doorsy-type, loves to run and
playball, ideally he would thrive with a lot of activity. The brindle-colored boy with the beautiful
white chest gives lots of kisses and is very gentle. He is current on all vaccinations, neutered,
housebroken, very quiet and well behaved, and raring to find paradise in a loving home. He's a very
easy and companionable mate. Tye deserves a chance at pure happiness. Please call Robin @ 415-331-8659.

email us about Mocha
Meet Mocha, a small 10-pound Chihuahua mix, approximately 8 years old. Mocha was abused as a puppy and was rescued with broken
ribs and a broken leg. She has some unpredictability due to this early trauma, such as not liking loud sudden noises or
being touched unexpectantly. But Mocha has a hugely loving personality, adores the people she knows
and warms up very quickly to strangers. She loves laps and will even sit on strangers’ laps.
Mocha relishes sleeping on pillows, sometimes even inside the pillowcase. She delights in
receiving attention and even fancies showing off her talent of sitting upright on her
back legs and begging by putting her two front paws together.
Mocha's best friend is a stuffed elephant. She LOVES hikes.
She loves licking legs and the edge of the bathtub after
someone showers. She gets along really well with other
dogs and cats and is current on her Rabies vaccine.
She has even had a dental cleaning last year. Mocha will do best in a home without small children. Older children are fine. Will you be her new forever family?

email us about Damita
Damita is a 2 yr old Blonde labx 50 lbs. Quiet (I've only heard her bark a few times). Fun-loving (loves treats and to run around in the yard & play ball) Loves people (she's affectionate but doesn't need constant attention). Very self-sufficient (can be left @ home all day with out getting into trouble) Excellent w/other dogs (she will go right up to any dog and be really nice). No cats (she won't hurt them but she will chase them.) more...
Child safe: but is jumpy, so at least 10 yrs old. Favorite thing: going for walks (she's not very big but she's a little powerhouse, needs basic leash training and a Sensation Harness.)
She & her brother Magic have been much beloved & cherished by their family, they've had them since they were puppies (6-8 weeks) but the family has gone through a divorce, the wife didn't wish to keep them and the husband wants to keep them but can't (he moved into an apt as that's all he could afford after the divorce.) They've been staying @ his mom's house out in the backyard / side of the house. Unfortunately this won't be their home much longer either as she has to move by end of June. I visit them several times a week and each & every time I am greeted by their most cheerful demeanor which hasn't failed them yet in spite of their circumstances. We know it's highly un-likely they will be able to stay together but it would be nice if they each can go to a home where there will at least be other dogs around to help keep them company. I know they will win your heart as they have won mine.

email us about Silky
"Silky" ( 1-1/2 yr old black beauty)) got her name because she's so silky-smooth and her coat is a beautiful shiny black. She was a stray
that good samaritans have taken in, she's currently living in Novato. They have taken her to the vet and had all her vet work done. She is docile around their pet "Dove", she gets along with all the dogs she meets (the neighbors Shepherd has a crush on her & keeps coming over to visit), and so far she's very curious about cats but that's as far as we can tell. She's very quiet, well-mannered, not destructive so does great in the house (is definitely an inside dog)! Rides nicely in the car, easy to walk, doesn't pull too much, she's a gentle soul!
When they first found her her front paws were injured, we don't know what happened, if she was hit by a
car or if she was mis-treated but they are recovered and she's now leading a nice normal life! She's a
happy soul who's been through alot. We wish to help her on her journey to the right home so she doesn't
have to go through any trauma again!

email us about Goldie
"Goldie" was named because of her golden tones. She's a 1-1/2 yr old beautiful dog - friendly, cat-friendly kind of girl!
She had an owner who lost her home and had no choice but to give her up so that Goldie would have a chance to find another home!
I think she will because she's very adoptable. She's good w/male and female dogs, large & small and is
very cat tolerant! She's also good w/children and would make a great family pet but older children
would be preferable as she's excitable and a little high strung. She's an active dog so would do best
in an active household, hiking, walking, going to parks, an out-doorsy sporty life-style!
She's quiet, and wants to be obedient but needs a good training class! If you are up to
the challenge she will make the best pet for a lucky family! She'll be thrilled to meet
any prospective adopters! We'll take good care of her until they come along!

email us about Diamond
The first time I met Diamond (Petite pitbull puppy 9 month old), I came to the house where she and her best-friend "Dollar" had been abandoned, she was instantly friendly & playful.
She's the nicest petite size and loves everyone she meets. Unfortunately the reason I first met her & "Dollar" (also a purebred 9 month old) was
because the only family they had ever known had been evicted, and left them as abandoned in the yard w/no food or water. An abandonment
complaint was filed by the landlord. Fortunately one of the neighbors has adopted "Dollar" and now we need to find a forever home for Diamond!
She loves going for walks, loves to play w/other dogs and is good w/treats, loves to snuggle at night, gentle w/children, excellent in the car, can be destructive if she gets bored, and will chew cords including her leash! Need a strong leather or metal type leash! Good candidate for crate-training.
She makes an excellent playmate for people and dogs so it shouldn't be hard to find her the ideal home with her pleasant, good natured temperament and her ability to get along w/everyone in the world!

"Chauncy" is a very trim 1 1/2 yr old white shep X w/a regal and elegant bearing as if descended from royalty. He is a bright star that has brought some sun light into the stressful world of rescue. He deserves all the admiration he gets when he's out in public. He's from the Lake County shelter where he almost got adopted but when that fell through we couldn't let a gentleman so distinctive fall through the cracks so now he's here with us!! The pleasure has been all ours....
He is in good health but thin, is a sweet and playful kind of guy. While he's docile & mild-mannered don't let that fool you as he can also be a bit of a watch dog (that's the shep part!) which is a good thing but that can include house - guests so might need crating when companies coming as he might try to "herd" them until he knows friend or foe!
He is just coming out of that awkward big puppy stage so it's not too late to get in that oh-so-important training that he's never had! (We will ask that he be enrolled in a class w/in 2 weeks of adoption!) He is intelligent and loves people so will be a quick learner @ is tolerant of other dogs (except he does show some machisimo @ times but it's manageable) and doesn't happen too often). He is not jumpy or pushy, doesn't pull too much on the leash and has become house-broken & crate-trained. He readily rolls on his back for tummy rubs or plays dead or might try to be a lap dog which can be comical....!
He's versatile, a nice blend of both an indoor and outdoorsy type: loves to run, hike and go along for bike rides. But also wishes to hang out w/everyone else, to curl up in the family room & watch T.V. Also has passed the dog park test w/flying colors, where he is well-behaved! He loves playing with other dogs (both boy & girl dogs) but no cats! He's a confirmed cat chaser! However we have discovered he's tolerant of chickens and horses!
His trouble spots in the past have been some separation anxiety, and escaping
but in all honesty I have not come across this, he appears to be stablizing. He's quiet & un-assuming, mostly non-destructive (well, he did demolish a pet bed once), likes to sun-bathe and take naps. I think the trick is: 1) he needs a secure yard 2) he must get at least 1 -2 walks per day (or some outdoor activity) and 3) he needs playmates! Preferably a girlfriend, so we wish to adopt to a home w/at least 1 other dog. I think this is what grounds him and keeps him home! Otherwise he can get restless. So in other words he needs a fairly active, friendly home but with calm & assertive discipline! If this profile happens to match your profile please contact us!

email us about Freddie
Freddie (approx. 5 year old mystery mix), not totally pit bull but not American Bull Dog either. Freddie (5 yr old mystery mix), not totally pitbull but not American Bull Dog either.
Freddie is a very likable guy!! To know him is to love him! He's a beautiful white with a clean well manicured coat! He was rescued from the SFACC, everyone thought he was deaf but guess what? He's not! He's like a happy-pill, his exuberance is contagious!
If he seems shy at first don't let that fool you, he's a spunky fellow and we started calling him "Fred Astaire" because he does a tap dance that we call his "happy dance"! And then if you are really lucky he will sing for you!
(well, he doesn't actually know any words) but you get the idea! Conversely he knows when he's in trouble and will go lie down on his petbed and
pout or excuses himself to another room. But you can't stay mad at him for long when he keeps staring at you with those saucer-size-gooey-brown eyes!
Conversely he knows it when he's in trouble and will go lie down on his petbed and pout
or excuses himself to another room to hide.. But you can't stay mad at him for long when he keeps staring at you with those mesmerizing eyes!
His good points are: Friendliness, lovable, snuggle-puss, lap-dog type, quiet except when he's really happy, crate trained, house broken, well-mannered in the house (he was definitely an inside dog) but is versatile, he likes to hang outside and sunbathe as well!
Really likes other dogs, both boys and girls and wishes to play if the other dogs will let him! Is responsive to
correction and really does what he can to be obedient! Loves treats, and knows sit & lie down, excellent in the
car, extremely good on leash, doesn't pull like alot of the pitbulls can, he's a very easy walker.
Quirks: There's really not much negative we can say but that he thinks pet beds are just big stuffed toys!
So don't leave him alone all day with one, it might or might not be there when you get back! And every now & then, once every few weeks he does do a little quirky snappy thing @ one of the dogs, just out of the blue! It's seems it's his way of saying "hey, back off....you're bugging me" kind of thing! But usually he's the soul of patience!
He has been a most pleasant house guest and we will miss him when he goes to his next forever home! We are waiting to see who that lucky person will be?

Samantha (now Sylvia Louise) was moments away from being surrendered to the SF pound, the family had driven all the way from Vallejo because
all the local shelters were closed on Sunday. They didn't tell me, I just happened to call to check up on her, and she
was just being processed in the system. I spoke to the staff and family and asked if they would give us a little bit
of time. We had Ed's Application for a small dog and he lived in SF so I called him, he had just gotten
home from the gym and when he realized what was happening, literally dropped what he was doing to drive over ! And the rest is history!
Her new guardian says "We are two peas in a pod!
I renamed her Sylvia-Louise from "Whats Up Doc"....its in one very funny scene and I have always been fond of the scene and name.
Its an ssss sound and an aaa sound at the end and she is not confused. I just call her Sylvia....but everyone needs a middle name.
She is a LOVE. Totally potty trained. Fetches! I have trained her to sit when I put the leash on and off. She knows "off" and "come up".
Her personality is delightful and she is eager to learn. I LOVE HER!!!!!
I just wanted to update you and let you know we are BOTH very happy!
She is the Christmas Miracle stories are written about!"

email us about grady
Meet Grady, a handsome prince of a dog, considered a young adult, a Mastiff-mix, precise age unknown,
approximately fifty-five pounds. He is a Southerner, currently residing at a boarding facility at
a vet association in Grenada, Mississippi, where he has been since being rescued from the deplorable
Winona pound, spending months there in solitary and with mange. Now all spruced up, he is very much
the Southern gentleman and even speaks with a drawl. He is absolutely wonderful with adults,
men and women equally, and hasn’t yet been around kids but only shows unconditional love toward humans.
He knows basic commands, walks beautifully on leash and ignores dogs when walking past their cages.
He does have some dog friends but, without training, I wouldn’t suggest he be with small dogs or
other males. He is neutered, vaccinated, and in robust health. He has an exceptionally even temperament.
These photos do not tell the story of his movie-star good looks and delightful smile. Grady is currently
interviewing suitable candidates to become his new family so he can be transported to Northern California.
Are you willing to give him a chance at a fabulous home? He promises to reward you with a lifetime of
ardent loyalty. He must leave the boarding facility soon. This is your chance to save a magnificent being.

email us about Lunas
This little pup was found in Sacramento during one of the hottest days of the summer. At the time he was found his fur was so
long and matted you couldn't tell if it were a boy or a girl, much less see his little face which it turns out is adorable!
His entire body was one big dredlock of hair and he looked to be seriously neglected. Lucky for him due to his spunky
demeanor he was easily befriended and rescued by Maeghan, our volunteer who thankfully can never say no to a dog!
We named him Lunas after the street he was found on. He is a Shih tzu. Age is unknown but we are guessing no more than two because he still acts like a puppy.
He loves to chase his tail in circles after a bath. He is a very sweet dog who loves
to give kisses and adores playing fetch with just about anything. He is a people dog and hates to be secluded or
left alone, so the best home for him would be one with children, another dog, or someone who is at home a
lot. He seems to be very curious of cats and non agressive towards them or other dogs. Lunas does not
seem to be trained yet so if you do not have the time to train him, he may not be fit for you. He is not crate
trained yet either. If he is left alone, he does bark. Though when he has another dog as a companion he does not bark as much.
Lunas is just a very happy dog who has so much love to give and needs a good home that will shower him with love & attention. : )

email us about Tator
Unfortunately, Tator's owner was deployed to Iraq! He was distraught about his dog Tator! A friend is keeping her
temporarily but the landlord is not happy! She's not very big, smaller then her pic! She is about 30 lbs and is a mixed breed dog.
She looks like she might have some Basset hound and Boxer in her but we really have a clue. Tator is potty trained, spayed and has all her shots.
Tator plays plays well with cats and the pomarianian dog she is living with in the short-term. Tator is a absolute sweatheart and loves to cuddle.
She seems very adoptable so we're going to try and help!!!

email us about Sallie
"Sallie" is only a year old and too young to have her life ended at the shelter! The volunteers at the shelter contacted
us and we felt there was no question we had to help her get out, it was team work! And are we glad we did!
This little girl has gone from timid & scared to the life of the party! She wiggles as
if her life depends on it (that's where the "silly" comes from), and she is a
"kissy bug"! I lose track of how many little "butter-fly" kisses I've gotten...
too many to count! AND after she growled at my dogs a few times (she does have "little" dog complex")
they are now best friends and she shows no fear!
She is crate trained, house-broken (wellll, ok, almost), quiet, non-destructive!
Good w/dogs of all sizes, she's a good dog park candidate, trust me, she can hold
her own with the big fellas (shep x, rott x, pittx). Will test her w/cats soon!
So far not anything really on the bad list!!! She's a pistolero! I think she is
ready for the world, but is the world ready for her??

email us about Dante
Dante (1 yr old cattle dog / dingo / pit x something mix!) He's a smorgasboard! Sadly, we think someone tried to make him into a pittbull by doing a botched "home job" on his ears. But to us it adds to his character and makes us love him all the more and adds to our determination to make sure he NEVER ever ends up in the wrong hands again. We would rather keep him forever then to allow anything bad to happen to him!
Hopefully we won't have to as he doesn't show any major signs of trauma and is a completely different dog then when he was first rescued! He was skittish & timid but is now the life of the party! He bubbles over with enthusiasm & effervescence, & non-stop affection!
He will lick you silly so you have to kindly but firmly say "Stop". And then he does! He loves & adores other dogs, I think they bring out the best in him and allow his playful side to emerge so best for him to go to a home w/plenty of doggie friends!
Dante is crate trained and house broken, non-destructive, very responsive to training and correction, but please keep it positive as he is a sensitive soul! The reason we think he's part cattle dog is he can let out a howl or 2 as if he were out in the out-back! And he needs to learn some manners as he will jump jump jump on you! But it's all in fun & games! And of course he probably never had a day of training in his life so needs to learn how to walk calmly on a leash! And don't expect alot of photo opps, he's very camera shy and sits down the minute he sees a camera!
The person who comes forward to adopt this dog will be a sensitive soul seeking a true & loyal soul-mate! Let us know if that's going to be you?

email us about Peter
Peter approx 6 yrs old (doxie & chiuahua mix) no more than 15 lbs, lived in a home with Pumpkin for almost 5 years but when the
family lost their home to foreclosure so did Peter & Pumpkin. We tried for over a year to get them another
home together but due to circumstances beyond our control they had to be separated... His companion Pumpkin
was adopted to a great couple in a lovely home but they couldn't take Peter because of the legal limits.
We wish to find Peter a home nearby somewhere in Marin where they can have playdates and rendevous at the dog park!
Peter truly is a daschund mix. He's not as outgoing as Pumpkin, he has some insecurity issues but he bonds
to someone and is their shadow. He can even be protective if he feels that you are being threatened, he
barks at anyone who walks into the front door, and makes a great watch dog!
He likes to tear the fluff out of toys and sleep as close to you as possible.
At the dog park he is the first to run up and meet any dog and he is definitely unaware of his small size.
He would make a great companion dog and we hope to find a home that has another dog....to take Pumpkins place! He is sweet,
a good listener, wants to please, good with cats inside the house, and good with other people, kids (he will jump
up but just for kisses), and dogs. He will bark at strange dogs when being walked in Piper Park on a leash. At
the Mill Valley Dog Park, off leash, he is a jewel. He runs and plays and interacts with all the other
dogs. If he is off leash, he comes right back when called. If you leave him in a car by himself,
he will bark. When he's in a car w/other dogs he doesn't bark ! So we know he does not like being left alone!
Peter needs someone home PART OF THE DAY for anxiety and bathroom purpose. He is housebroken and crate trained,
knows sit, lay down & the word STOP! He is a great soul: good or better than so many that have found homes.

gorgeous hunk of a man and you couldn't ask for a nicer guy!

email us about Buster
Buster wants a permanent home. He's best described as a Staffordshire
terrier, about two years old, 60 pounds, and still adjusting to a better
life with his foster daddy. He was found wondering the streets on July 2,
'09, obviously lost or abandoned. He was reported to Animal Control and
posters placed in the area with no response from his former owner.
Buster was neutered, received all his shots, and his behavior is steadily improving.
Buster was not given much of what could be called obedience training as he
grew up but he has the sweetest & friendly temperament that he's hard to resist.
He is very strong, rambunctious at times, and likes more than
anything to jump up on people who he likes. But he's improving, he
knows his foster daddy wants him to greet people politely, but he has a way
to go before he can be trusted to keep all four on the floor.
Pit bull dogs, in spite of their sullied reputation, are very loving and loyal to their humans,
and when properly led make the finest of family pets. But on the other side of the coin they are quite
competitive and require careful matching to live safely together with other dogs. Buster
thinks squirrels and cats are prey and will chase without hesitation.
Buster has been living together with his foster dad's three other dogs and
getting along well. He plays boisterously and he's especially fond of females.
Buster's been to the dog park several times where he's demonstrated he can be quite sociable
but also shows some independance which some folks consider to be stubborness and therefore
potentially troublesome. On the other hand he recalls fairly well.
All in all Buster could be
on his way to being a fabulous family pet with a concientious and patient owner who devotes the necessary effort to
continue Buster's education. While Buster waits for a permanent home and
loving owner he delights his foster daddy with his antics and affection. He
claims 'his' TV chair by crawling into his foster dad's lap for a few face
licks and a snooze.

email us about Annie
Meet Annie and Sarah, two lovely girls who have been living together for a
year and a half and are very bonded. (Update: Sarah has been adopted but not Annie)
These photos do not capture their movie-star looks and irresistibly delightful selves.
The person who originally adopted them has lost his home to foreclosure and he's despairing
about his beloved girls, because they are still in the house but must vacate soon and
there is no place for them. When he first adopted them, these dogs had no hope of being
adopted where they were (about 6 hours north of Marin), and he saved their lives.
It would be ideal if they could stay together but most important is their being
adopted, even if means splitting them up. Both are spirited and playful and very
loving. Annie is a lab/pit bull mix and about two. She
gets along beautifully with everyone, two-and four-legged. She
lived with a family before being adopted with Sarah.
Both dogs
have been around lots of children and would be perfect in a
family. They would also do very well with training as they
live to please. They know basic commands, are neutered,
vaccinated, housebroken, well behaved, and in robust health.
They have exceptionally even temperaments. Annie and Sarah
adore each other and are now each other's only comfort.
Can
you help them? The situation is dire. Are you willing to give one or
both a chance at a fabulous home? They promise to reward you with a lifetime
of ardent loyalty. This is your chance to save these magnificent beings.
