Hiking is one of the most beautiful and rewarding activities to do whilst on a camping trip. Not only are there spectacular views involved, but it sure gets your heart rate up and brings you even closer to nature.

We’ve compiled a list of our five favourite hikes around Australia to inspire your next adventure on foot.

1. Cape to Cape track, Margaret River WA

Cape to Cape track is hands down one of the most spectacular coastal hikes in Australia. This rewarding multi-day hike involves lots of coastal cliffs, forests of giant karri trees, and not to mention surf beaches to stop and have a swim. There are lots of campsites along the walk as well as fantastic rock formations too. You might even spot a whale if you are travelling between June-December!

2. Great Ocean Walk, VIC

This walk takes you along the Great Ocean Road, one of Australia’s most iconic routes. Even though most people drive along this road, it’s also great on foot. This multi-day hike extends for 104kms. There are many sea cliffs, wetlands, and beautiful features to snap a picture at…#adventure!

3. K’Gari (Fraser Island) Great Walk, QLD

Fraser Island is the world’s largest sand island and exploring its unique landscapes on foot is a great way to get to know this remarkable place. The island is packed with scenic sites such as Lake McKenzie and features amazing sceneries, including towering rainforest, crystal-clear lakes, coloured sands, and vast sand dunes. While the entire 90km Great Walk takes 6–8 days to complete, short easy walks are also available.

4. Blue Gum Forest, Blue Mountains NSW

Blue Gum Forest is approximately 115km from Sydney’s city centre and features the World Heritage Listed Blue Mountains National Park. One of the most popular forest tracks is Perry’s Lookdown walk, which takes about 4-5 hours round trip. Keep an eye out for the cockatoos and enjoy the beautiful aromas of eucalyptus!

5. Wineglass Bay Circuit, TAS

Wineglass Bay is part of the Freycinet National Park and one of the most incredible beaches in Australia. The beach is beautiful, perfectly curved which looks almost like the bottom of a wine glass. The Wineglass Bay circuit is about 12km and includes a walk to the lookout to see the best view of the crystal-clear water and wildlife. This one is an absolute MUST to pop on your bucket list.
